Electracore generator installation in Wayne County
What we do

Specifically, here's what we handle.

Wayne County loses power. Storms, ice, equipment failures — DTE outages can last hours or days. A properly installed generator means your fridge, sump pump, furnace, and Wi-Fi keep running.

Whole-home standby generators

Automatic, permanent generators that turn on within seconds of an outage and run on natural gas or propane. Generac, Kohler, Cummins, Briggs & Stratton.

Automatic transfer switches (ATS)

The brain of your standby generator — automatically switches your home from utility to generator power when the grid drops, and back again when it returns.

Manual transfer switches

More affordable option for portable generators. Lets you safely power selected circuits in your home from a portable generator without dangerous backfeeding.

Portable generator inlets

Code-compliant generator inlet boxes (instead of running extension cords through windows). Pairs with a manual transfer switch for safe operation.

Sizing & load analysis

We do a real load calculation to size your generator correctly — not too small (won't run what you need) and not too big (wasted money on fuel and equipment).

Maintenance & service

Annual maintenance plans for standby generators — oil changes, filter replacements, run testing, battery checks. Keeps the warranty valid and the generator reliable.

Why Electracore

What sets us apart for this work.

We size it right the first time

Undersized generators trip during outages. Oversized ones cost a fortune and waste fuel. We do a load calculation that accounts for your actual usage — not a guess based on square footage.

Gas line and electrical, all-in-one

Standby generators need both a gas connection and an electrical connection. We coordinate the gas work (with a licensed plumber if needed) so you have one team handling the whole project.

Permits, inspections, and warranty registration

Every install is permitted and inspected. We register the warranty with the manufacturer so you're covered. Skipping these steps voids the warranty — we don't skip them.

Common questions

Things people ask us.

How big of a generator do I need? +

Depends on what you want to run. "Essentials only" (fridge, sump pump, furnace, some lights, Wi-Fi) usually needs 8-12kW. "Whole house, including AC" usually needs 18-26kW. We do a real load calc — no guesswork — as part of the quote.

Standby generator vs. portable generator — which should I get? +

Standby generators are automatic, permanent, and run on natural gas — but cost more upfront. Portable generators are cheaper but require manual setup, fuel storage, and you have to be home to start them. For frequent outages or if you're often away, standby. For occasional outages on a budget, portable + transfer switch.

Will a generator power my central AC? +

Yes — but only if it's sized for it. Central AC has a high startup load. We size for AC compatibility if that's a priority. Smaller generators can run other things while the AC stays off until the grid is back.

How often do standby generators need maintenance? +

Annual maintenance is required to keep the warranty valid: oil change, filter, plug, battery check, run test. We offer maintenance plans so you don't have to remember. Skipping maintenance is the #1 reason generators fail when you actually need them.

What's the typical cost of a whole-home generator install? +

It varies a lot based on generator size, distance from gas meter and panel, and any electrical work needed. We give you a written quote after a site visit — no guessing over the phone, no "starting at" prices that don't match reality.
